August Primary / Who – When – and Where’s

Who can vote in the August Primary Election?

• US Citizens who are registered can participate in voting.

• Remember that Connecticut has semi-closed primaries, meaning that only Democrats can vote in Democratic primaries, and only Republicans can vote in Republican primaries. Unaffiliated voters cannot vote in primary elections.

• While mail-in registration for the August 11 primary ends on July 24, in-person registration at your local Registrars’ office continues through noon on August 10. Learn more at https://ow.ly/r9Lb50Z9ltn.

When can I vote?

Absentee Ballots must be returned:

• by mail so that it is received by the municipal clerk no later than the close of the polls on the day of such election; or

• deposited into an official ballot box of the municipality no later than the close of the polls on the day of such election; or

• returned by the elector in person to said clerk by the day before an election or primary;

• A presidential ballot or overseas ballot must be mailed or otherwise returned by the elector or applicant so that it is received by the town clerk no later than the close of the polls on election day. (Sec. 9-l40b)

**EARLY VOTING & same day registration and voting: August 3 - 9th.

10 am - 6 pm, including Saturday & Sunday 8 am - 8 pm on Aug. 4th and 6th

PRIMARY ELECTION DAY VOTING: Tuesday, August 11, 2026, 6:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.
