Job Title: Public Works Maintainer
Job Description:
This is a full-time mid-level (40 hour/week) position in the Plymouth Public Works Department.
Starting salary is $28.84 per hour and after 7-1-26 will be $29.56 per hour. This position comes with generous Health Beneļ¬ts. This is a Union Position included in the Teamsters Local 443 and subject to all conditions. CDL B (minimum) license is mandatory.
Part of a team that is responsible for the:
- Construction and maintenance of streets, roads, bridges, culverts, sidewalks, roadside development and related activities;
- Maintenance and repair of the public works facilities;
- Maintenance, repair, operation and proper use of the equipment and materials;
- Winter plowing and treating of the roads of the Town of Plymouth and related activities;
- Maintenance, repair and/or care of other Town facilities.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Construction of and repair and maintenance of streets, roads, bridges, culverts, sidewalks, roadside development and related activities;
- Operations, maintenance and repair of all public works equipment and tools;
- Maintenance of the public works facilities both interior and exterior.
- Winter care of the roadways to include salting, snow removal, tree removal and related functions;
- During snow and ice conditions, load, plow and sand public roads and facilities; shovel and clear public ways as required;
- Available for emergency operations including snow removal, and other operations that may include call in’s outside of the regular working schedule.
- Operate heavy trucks, vehicles and equipment for the purpose of road maintenance, hauling, loading and snow and ice removal;
- Make routine highway maintenance decisions involving equipment operations and maintenance and safe driving and safe work practices;
- Operate or assist in the operation of the Transfer Station and Leaf and Brush Facility
- Possess good knowledge, skills and ability in heavy equipment operations, basic preventive maintenance procedures and safe driving and work practices;
- Responsible for maintaining a safe personal work environment for and complying with safety procedures and training.
- Duties are not limited to the above, other duties may be assigned as necessary
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
Must be knowledgeable in the safe operation of snowplows, heavy equipment, hand tools, chain saws, as well as materials and maintenance methods relating to the construction and maintenance of roads and related structures. Attain the ability to read and interpret instruction such as safety rules, procedures, operational and maintenance instructions.
