The Farms II Road Construction Update – 7/1/2026

Tumblebrook, Oakdale and Fountainhead

The Town of Plymouth Department of Public Works would like to provide residents of the Tumblebrook, Oakdale, and Fountainhead neighborhoods with an update on the ongoing roadway reconstruction project.

Construction continues to progress as planned and will occur in several phases over the coming weeks.

Current Work – Drainage Improvements

Crews are currently installing underdrain systems in targeted areas within the roadway to improve subsurface drainage and enhance long-term performance of the pavement.  This phase of work is expected to continue for approximately 2-3 more weeks.

Upcoming Construction Schedule

Following completion of the drainage improvements, work is anticipated to proceed as follows:

  • Road Reclaimation & Grading- The existing roadway will be reclaimed , blended with the existing gravel base and fine graded.  This phase is expected to take approximately 2 weeks.
  • Catch Basin Adjustments – Catch basin frames and covers will be adjusted or replaced as necessary to match the new roadway profile.  This work will follow behind the roadway grading and expected to take 2-3 weeks.
  • Final Paving – The Town is currently anticipating placement of the final asphalt surface during late summer, targeting August, weather and contractor schedule permitting.
  • Driveway Apron Improvements – Following paving, driveway aprons requiring replacement will be reconstructed.  Existing asphalt aprons will be sawcut approximately 2-3 feet from the edge of the roadway, removed and the underlying base material will be prepared before new asphalt aprons are installed.  Residents whose driveways are scheduled for apron replacement may experience temporary access restrictions during construction.  Whenever possible, advance notice will be provided, and every effort will be made to minimize inconvenience.
  • Curb & Turf Restoration –Curbs will be replaced, backfilled with topsoil and hydro-seeded to restore turf areas.

The Town appreciates your patience and cooperation as these improvements are completed.  If you have any questions or special access needs, please contact the Department of Public Works at      860-585-4030 or jsopczneski@plymouthct.us.

IMPORTANT – WHAT TO EXPECT

  • Periodic lane closures or alternating one-way traffic under flagger control.
  • Construction equipment entering and exiting the work zone.
  • Temporary driveway access interruptions while work is performed directly in front of individual properties.
  • Construction is weather dependent and schedules may change.

Respectfully, Joe Sopczneski - Public Works Director - Town of Plymouth
